This Piazza is located in the heart of Verona, not far from Piazza Erbe. It is surrounded by interesting  buildings and monuments: Palazzo del Comune (built in the 12th Century), Palazzo del Governo (built by the Scaligeri family, also from from the 12th Century), Loggia del Consiglio and Torre Lamberti (bell tower), the tallest building in Verona offering you the chance to enjoy a marvelous view of Verona. This is the very famous balcony of Juliet Capuleti where Romeo Montecchi declares his love for Juliet as she stands on it. They loved each other very much but their families were enemies. They married in secret but later they were found out; he was then banished and returned at later date to rescue her. However, convinced that she was dead, he commits suicid. But Juliet wakes up and in despair kills herself.  The building dates back to the 13th Century.

Castelvecchio  by  Night

Castelvecchio (old castle) is an impressive castle built in 1354. It was used as a military fortress and was at the centre of many invasions. Unfortunately, its stone bridge over the River Adige was destroyed during the Second World War bombing and then rebuilt in the 50s. Today the castle has been transformed into a  museum and art gallery where you will find painting collections, sculptures and Roman and Middle Age relics.
