Pompeii
Pompeii is located in the region of Campania. Pompeii together with Ercolano were destroyed and buried under 60 feet of ash and pumice by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. The city was only rediscovered in 1748. Its excavation has given back some extraordinary details about this Roman city and its life. Among the ruins you will find private villas, the Amphitheatre, the Forum and the Basilica. It feels like this city is frozen in time and I think the pictures speak for themselves.
This person seems to be trying to keep from breathing the ash.
