Lake Garda

Lake Garda is located halfway between Venice and Milan in the north-east of Italy, dividing the regions of Lombardy, the Veneto and Trentino Alto-Adige.
Lake Garda is the largest of the Italian lakes and offers a contrasting landscape, from the gentle rolling hills of the south to the high peaks in the north.
The lake is surrounded by so many lovely towns, it really is difficult to choose a favourite!
One of the most popular towns around Lake Garda is the ancient town of Sirmione, home to popular spa centres, the ruins of Villa Romana also known as "Grotte di Catullo" and a wonderful 13th Century Castello Scaligeri (Scaliger Castle) built by the Scaglieri Family (Lords of Verona).
Grotte di Catullo

Sirmione is a very nice place to stay, with lots of prestigious hotels, some in the town centre and others spread along the pensinsula, and lots of restaurants to enjoy.Sirmione is a quite small town but it can get really busy with tourists in summer time. Most of the lakeside towns are popular as holiday resorts; they are all very charming and very well-connected by boat services.

Other must-see places you may want to visit around the lake are Garda, Limone, Bardolino and Desenzano, as well as the largest theme park "Gardaland" and the famous "Canevaworld" water park in the south east, open from June to September. Verona and Venice are within easy reach.

Lake Garda is ideal for the whole family. There are so many places to see and lots of different things to do. It really doesn't matter if you are not into history, you can always do some sports, family activities, shopping or simply chill out by the lake watching the world go by. Lake Garda has it all.

Sports
There are a lot of sports you can do in and around Lake Garda. We mention few of what you will find here: windsurfing, tennis, cycling, sailing, waterskiing, swimming,
golf, rock climbing and many more.

From Verona Porta Nuova Station there are also frequent trains to Desenzano del Garda. Trains run every half hour and the journey takes 20 minutes. Alternatively, a direct bus runs from Verona to Garda, Riva, Malcesine and other lake resorts.
